Statutory Power of Attorney and Medical Treatment Forms

There are a number of legal mechanisms that allow somebody to act on your behalf if you are unable to do so. The two main concerns here are giving somebody the legal right to manage your property and to make medical decisions for you while you are incapacitated.

This area is governed by state laws, which vary from state to state. Transferring power over your property is generally accomplished by a durable power of attorney.

With medical decision-making, things are considerably more complicated. For example, a state may offer the option of a health care power of attorney, a living will, some other form of health care advance directive or proxy (e.g., non-hospital do not resuscitate orders), or a combination of all of the above.

If you are interested in your state's proxy forms, follow the links provided below. As you look at the forms, keep in mind that some state forms are merely a guideline and may allow you to modify them to suit your individual needs. Other forms may have to be completed as is.

After the download;

	Install the program as instructed by the standard installation wizard provided.
	If you are upgrading a previous version you may need to restart Windows, and you will not be asked for the installation location - this upgrade will be upgraded in the same file location. The installer will detect your previous installation and upgrade it automatically and silently.
	AxCrypt is free and easy to use open source strong file encryption for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2K/XP, integrated with Windows Explorer. Encrypt, compress, decrypt, wipe, view and edit with a few mouse clicks. Cryptographic primitives are AES-128 and SHA-1.
	Encrypted files have a ".axx" extension added to their names, and are shown with a new icon
	To encrypt a file, right-click it in Windows Explorer, select 'AxCrypt \| Encrypt' and enter a pass phrase plus the path to an optional strong key file.
	To edit or view an encrypted file - just double-click it.
	To decrypt, right-click and select 'AxCrypt \| Decrypt' instead, and enter the correct pass phrase plus the path to the correct key file, if used.
	To encrypt to a self-decrypting .exe program, right-click and select 'AxCrypt \| Encrypt Copy to .exe' . You can send these files to anyone, they do not need to have AxCrypt installed.
	AxDecrypt, a stand-alone, install-free, decrypt-only version is also included.

Backup your data!

Encryption protects your data from being seen by others, and against undetected change. It does not protect data from loss. Please backup your important encrypted files as you normally would.
